I do agree with the fact that we should actively try to search for jobs and it should not be viceversa. 3 steps I believe will solve every job seeker. Step1: find the right job, don’t waste time by visiting all companies career pages. Try to find all the information in one search by visiting job search engines like jobmixi.com, indeed.com which will show you results from all company career pages and jobboards. step2: Prepare a resume, if you are not good at that seek help of a good resume builder available online. step3: Be prepared for the interview, present yourself properly, groom yourself professionally on that day. I believe all i did was this and i am in my dream job now.

Hi! My name is Vicki, I came across your blog entry "Top 5 In-Demand Careers", and I noticed that you mentioned registered nurse, medical assistant, radiology technician, medical imaging as growing jobs in the medical field. I know of a terrific resource that helps medical professionals to find healthcare careers website. I was hoping you can pass this along to your readers. Thanks!

It's worth mentioning the importanc of keeping your resume brief:
employers only spend about 30 seconds scanning them because they are so busy. If yor resume is too long, they will put it in the trash can.

Also remember to avoid stating information in your resume which you cannot later prove. Do not lie about your skills, experience or qualifications because employers do conduct checks during the recuitment stage.

Great post!

I just wanted to add that it is also SO important to proofread your resume. While a resume may not have to be "perfect", it can be tossed if even a single word is spelled wrong. Give the resume to a couple of friends or relatives and have them look it over. A second set of eyes can often be the best thing that ever happened to your resume.

Good luck to anyone on a job search!

I read this blog a lot and you offer some really great tips! Thank you!

Comment on Is This On Your Resume? It Should Be! by Maria Hebda

I have to agree with Judi on this one. However, if someone is working with a professional resume writer, including a brief company description is should NOT be missing.

Also, please remember career achievements play a critical role when it comes to your resume. Is this information in your resume? It should be!

Career achievements are what "sell" you to employers. In today's competitive job market, your resume MUST go beyond a laundry list of duties and responsibilities. If you are targeting a mid to senior-level management position, your career achievements will demonstrate your team and/or organizational leadership strengths and skills, ability to identify problems and provide solutions, and prove your ability to take on and effectively manage key projects from beginning to end.

Employers expect to see career achievements in a resume, especially for those seeking any type of management position.

As a teacher myself (and a Certified Professional Resume Writer), you must have a strong ability to communicate with your students in speaking and writing. Knowledge of your subject matter will only take you so far; being able to communicate that material clearly - especially with the current focus on standardized testing and higher accountability - is one of the qualities that makes for an effective teacher.

Make sure that ability shines through in your cover letter as well.

Thanks for the post!

I wanted to add that I also think it is important to integrate keywords and phrases taken directly from the job description into your cover letter. Those words may stick out to the hiring manager and make them want to continue reading.

Also, be sure that your cover letter is error free. Be sure to spell check and check for punctuation errors a few times before sending it on it's way.

Thanks again, I look forward to reading your next post!
