Community Volunteerism Ought to Be On Everyone's Resume!
Is community volunteerism and service in your past? Boy, it sure is on mine. Thousands of hours in fact and after doing all that I must say it sure gives you a different perspective of reality. I hope you are amongst one of the 80 million Americans who have indeed given over 1000 hours to the common good of the community.
If you are not part of this group of Americans, then may I recommend "Now" as a great time to change all that? Yes, you heard me say it; "Go Volunteer" and be part of the solution. Whenever, I recommend people do this, they always ask me; What have you done?
I have done quite a bit actually and rarely do I bother to get into all that. But just so you know that I am so very serious about community involvement let me explain what has brought me to this stance; you see, I have had a lot of practice doing the community stuff. I have given speeches to the community "ies" to help others. I have broken bread with the homeless for Christmas, wrapped toys with the USMC, washed cars with the youth groups and built homes for humanity.
Once you have done these things you will see the community in a whole new light and understand how things work and why it is so vital to have a sense of community. I believe that Community Volunteerism ought to be on everyone's resume! As a matter of fact I had a policy in my company. We would not sell a franchise to anyone who had not given back to their community.
You need to help out in your community because it is the right thing to do. I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple, to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.
